Demons Secure Runner-Up Finish at 2026 Bluegrass Conference Meet

The Lamoni Girls Track and Field team delivered a powerhouse performance at the Bluegrass Conference Track Meet on May 5th, finishing as the conference runner-up. In a night defined by grit and school spirit, the team racked up 133 points, narrowly missing the top spot in a fierce battle for the championship.

Coaches K and Cougill praised the roster not just for their podium finishes, but for the character displayed throughout the event.

Championship Highlights

Lamoni brought home several gold medals and saw veteran leadership shine on the track and in the field:

• Haelyn Olson cemented her legacy by becoming a 3-time Conference Champion in the 3000 Meter Run.

• Allyson Martin dominated the Long Jump with a leap of 15'5.75". Martin is currently ranked 32nd in Class 1A.

• The 4x200 Relay team (Allyson Martin, Karlee Hamaker, Kacen McKillip, and Tayhani Parra) took 1st place with a time of 1:56.42.

• The 4x100 Relay team (same lineup) also secured a 1st place finish, clocking in at 54.24—missing the school record by a staggering .06 seconds. They are currently ranked 49th in the state.

Record Watch & State Rankings

Beyond the conference standings, several athletes are making waves in the Class 1A state rankings:

• Freshman Sensation: Liora Loving took 3rd in Discus (101'3"). She is currently the highest-ranked freshman in 1A (17th overall) and sits just one inch away from breaking the Lamoni school record.

• Sprint Specialist: Tayhani Parra earned 2nd in the 100m and 3rd in the 200m. Her times currently have her ranked 39th in the state for both events.
