Demon Happening 12/19
Welcome back to another exciting week in the Lamoni High School. This has been one of the busiest weeks of the school year.
On Monday, the Girls and Boys Basketball teams traveled to Orient to take on the Orient-Macksburg Bulldogs. The Girls Basketball team won 50-23 in convincing fashion. The Boys Basketball team won 78-57, with balanced scoring from the top 8 guys. Along with the win, a Demon freshman scored their first varsity points. Congrats on the win!
The following day the basketball teams battled the Moulton-Udell Eagles. The girls took care of business, winning by 15, with a final score of 45-30. The Demon Boys took the stage next. The boys passed and shot their way to a 5-1 record with the win against the Eagles, with a final score of 68-28. This is the first time in two years the Boys have surpassed a 4 win season.
On Wednesday the Lamoni Academic Team went to their first meet of the season. In their first match they beat Wayne B, 21-10. In their second match, they beat Seymour 20-17. In their third match they wiped the floor with East Union, 21-10. In their fourth match, they beat Mormon Trail 26-14. This was their largest margin of victory of the day. In their final match they lost to Central Decatur 18-15.
With a day of rest the Demons were back in action against the North Harrison Shamrocks. The girls game contained too much action to be finished in 32 minutes. The girls ended up winning in the first overtime session, 64-55. This bumped the Lady Demons to a 5-3 record on the year. The boys took the floor hyped up after seeing the Ladies beat The Lady Shamrocks. The Demons took a commanding lead at halftime; 31-13. The Demons ended up with the win, with a final tally of 61-47.
It was also a very tough competition against Centerville for the Lamoni Demon Bowlers. They fought hard but the difference of the lanes were a challenge.
The weather turned out to be the Demons’ toughest opponent, preventing them from traveling to Humeston to take on the Saints.
