Boys and Girls Track Teams Win Conference Meet
Last night, both the Boys and Girls Track and Field Teams competed in the Bluegrass Conference Meet and won. The Lamoni girls took first in the Bluegrass Conference meet scoring 105 points. The top four scoring teams were rounded out by Murray (103), Seymour (100) and Mormon Trail (96). All girls scored points to achieve the victory showing a total team effort.
The boys scored 192 points and won the meet winning 10 out of 19 events. 1st place finishers included Javin Stevenson in the 100, 200, and 400 meter dash. Tyson McDole won the 3200, 1600, and the 800 meter run races. Brayden Olson won the discus throw. Three relay races were also winners: 4x800 (Jack Greenwood, Ambrose Savage, Matthew Patience, Tyson McDole), Sprint Medley (Ambrose Savage, Trevor McDole, Brayden Olson, Matthew Patience), and the 4X4 ( Brayden Olson, Matthew Patience, Ambrose Savage, Javin Stevenson). The Seniors go out on high note having never lost a conference track meet while competing for Lamoni Community schools. They won 5 conference titles 2 in Junior High and 3 in High School (they did not get to compete in 2020 due to co vid and not having a season).
Medal finishers for the girls were: Henson: 1st in high jump, 3rd 100M, 2nd 200M, Pierschbacher: 2nd in 400M, Lloyd: 3rd 100M Hurdles, 2nd 400M Hurdles, Burton: 5th 100M Hurdles, Leonard: 3rd in Discus, Paredes: 5th High Jump, 1st 4x400, Parades, Pierschbacher, Lloyd, Henson, 2nd 4x800 Paredes, Olson, C. Phelps, Piershbacher, 2nd 800M Sprint Medley Burton, Piershbacher, Howell, Lloyd, and 3rd 1600M Distance Medley Burton, Howell, C. Phelps, Paredes
Scoring critical points in 4th-8th place finishes in relays or individual events include: Salmi, K. Phelps, Brown, Lindgren, and Tull.
