Light Up Iowa
Lamoni Community Schools will light up the baseball and softball fields Friday, May 1st starting at 8 pm. The lights will remain on for 1 minute for each day our school district has been out of school for the COVID-19 shutdown. This will give our community and our students a chance to show support for one another. We are lighting up these fields in hopes that we are back as a school and community supporting our Lamoni Demon baseball and softball teams in competition. As always we need to be very mindful of the situation. Supporters are welcome to drive through north park and show their support in any positive way they want to, but we will not be stopping at the parks and gathering. I have been so impressed to watch Lamoni citizens support each other in so many ways. I am proud to be a part of the school and community! Below is the statement from the IHSADA.

IHSADA “Light Up Iowa”
The Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association (IHSADA) would like to invite you to participate in a voluntary program as we seek to “Light Up Iowa” by lighting up our stadiums at 8:00 pm each Friday night. At 8:00 weekly on Friday night we ask that we all join together and turn on the lights of our stadiums and leave them on for one minute for each day we have been out of school. We would encourage you to use the hashtag “lightupIA” and also include @ihsada in each of your social media posts that you use to promote on your Twitter feed. This is obviously a voluntary activity to be determined by your district but is an opportunity to light up the night and let our communities and students know that we miss them and look forward to having them back in our stadiums with the lights on and our communities back together.
