Lamoni High School Teacher Nominated Healthiest Teacher

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. The Wellness Committee is promoting a Healthy Wall of Fame. The Lamoni Community Schools nominated Gayle Ramaeker the healthiest teacher. She was crowned the healthiest teacher after answering a series of questions and receiving the highest score. Some of the questions were: How many hours of sleep do you usually get? Have you gotten a cholesterol check up recently? Mrs. Ramaeker has three kids all under the age of seven. We bet it is difficult having kids, a full time job, and making sure you are taking care of your health. There are always struggles to do anything; some of her struggles with exercising is staying motivated at times. The hardest time to stay motivated is this time of year because it is a very busy time of year and it is much easier just to pop in a pizza or get take out. I bet lots of people can agree with Mrs. Ramaeker on that!

She loves her kids very much and she told us that she thinks if she takes care of herself and makes sure she stays healthy and happy then she is setting a good example for her children. Working out and being healthy is all a mindset, you need to make it a lifestyle, not just a diet. Also something that is very important that Mrs. Ramaeker says she wants her kids to know is that, “It’s not about numbers on a scale. It is all about your physical mental heath that really matters.”

Her favorite healthy food is fresh salads made from fruit and veggies from her garden. She also enjoys apples and homemade almond butter! Being healthy is very important especially to Alice Sweeten, the school nurse. Thank you for bringing to our attention the importance of preventive health. Nice job, Mrs. Ramaeker, on being the healthiest teacher for the month of February!
